Another vote for Netgear FA310TX (less than $17 at buy.com) My 4 node network just hums along, and I know several good network guru/tech types that recommend and use them.

what about my ultra cheap NDC?...it probably sucks, since i got it free w/ my signup to rogers@home, but it functions flawlessly - or so it seems..

it even withstood my vaginally secreting on it - and i don't even have a vagina.

I dont like the intel card I like my netgear one much better actually. I have the 311 i prefer it over the pro 100+

I set up a 3 node network for my Dad's office to share thier DSL. Used Netgear FA310TX cards. No problems whatsoever, and trust me, he bitches if there's a problem 🙂

At home, I've used an SMC NIC for my personal network, Kingston NIC for my DSL (only 10 mbps, its what they gave me, but works fine), and a Linksys one. No problems with any of them.

Make sure you get a PCI NIC, as I'm sure all the others would echo, they are much easier to setup (Plug and Pray works better on PCI, IMO).

Intel Pro/100+ myself.

I used to like 3Coms but there 2000 drivers are problomatic on machines I've used them on.

All 20 of them where having connection problems even with the latest drivers.
