Started to like Gruden at one time, but now, it seems everyone to him is the best at everything. It seems every game I hear something like:

"Ya know, Philip Rivers is the most accurate QB in the league."

or

"The Ravens have the best run blocking line in the league."

Which is then followed the next week by:

"Ya know, Tom Brady is the most accurate QB in the league."

or

"The Jets have the best run blocking line in the league."

I guess it gets annoying to hear that every game he is the commentator on always has the best whatever playing in front of him.

Aside from that, I usually enjoy his comments.

Can't stand Collinsworth.

Yea I've noticed that about Gruden, he absolutely loves every player in the NFL. Hey...at least he's positive!

This would be a great booth. Or Michaels, Aikman, and Collinsworth.

I think Aikman is the best color guy out there right now. Joe Buck tends to be pretty stupid though. Al Michaels is very good as a play by play guy. Jaws brings a unique (and usually accurate) analysis as well.

I used to hate Collinsworth, but I think he's improved a lot recently.

Ugh, Aikman is freaking awful. D:

One thing I find amusing about Aikman - and in my opinion, proves that he's not biased in his broadcasting - Cowboys fans hate him because they claim he's biased against Dallas. Eagles and Redskins fans hate him because they claim he's based for Dallas. The fact is...he just calls it like he sees it. If that means saying something good about Dallas, so be it, even if the Eagles fans will scream bias. Meanwhile, if he dares say something negative about them, the Cowboys fans get their panties in a wad. Its kinda funny.

Well it's good he's not biased, I just don't think he ever says anything useful or insightful. Could just be me, or maybe he has some of the Buck stink on him.

I do think its rare for a color guy to be unbiased, which is a plus in Aikman's favor. Look at Jaws. I think Jaws does a great analysis of the game, but he is very blatant with his Eagles favoritism. He still refers to them as "we". Aikman doesn't do that.

I do think Buck brings him down. When baseball playoffs are going on, they promote either Stockton or Albert to Aikman's booth...and its really solid. A lot better than when Buck is there.

FOX: Fairly innocuous, they just don't bring anything to the game.

NBC: Better, but Michaels' need to always have the last word is annoying. His play-by-play is good, though, and I enjoy when Collinsworth breaks down a WR's technique.

NFLN: I've seldom listened to those guys, but Millen used to be very good.

CBS: I enjoy. I like the calm - I don't need announcers to be yelling. I watch games intently - I study them - so I prefer that announcers do not artificially inject excitement into every play.

ESPN: Tirico sucks. Talks waaaay to much, tries to usurp the analysts' roles. Gruden's fun, but as others have noted, too much rah-rah spewage over the players. Jaws is great.

I would prefer to listen to the Packers Radio Network 🙂
Jim Irwin, Max McGee and Larry McCarren are my all time favorites.

Option 6 John Madden BECAUSE WHEN YOUVE GOT GOOD PLAYERS WITH A FOOTBALL PLAYING FOOTBALL ON A FOOTBALL FIELD THATS WHAT YOU CALL GOOD FOOTBALL

If I could pick my ideal team, I'd have Al Michaels with Aikman and Jaws.

And if I could pick the team that I would wish the announce booth caught fire mid-game, it would be Joe Buck, Collinsworth, and Theisman.

I voted ESPN solely because of the lack of any of those 3.

I like Collinsworth because he tends to talk about stuff that I wouldn't notice. It's easy to say X passes to Y for Z yards. He also talks about linemen more than any other commentator that I can think of, and it's nice to see these types of players recognized. When the Jets play, for instance, he talks about D'Brickashaw Ferguson for at least 5 plays.

Exactly, I feel like I'm actually learning something when he's on. Not sure why people think he's a douche, I've heard him on the BS Report and a couple of other places and he seemed like a nice guy to me.

Dan Dierdorf isn't doing games this year? That sucks. I liked Dierdorf the best, mostly because he called bullshit when ref calls were bullshit.

I really dislike Collinsworth but when it comes to announcers everyone has their own opinions, like music 😀

i'll take any of them over joe buck. at least on fox's shambolic football coverage he has aikman and not that other jackass. when the 2 of them call a baseball game, it's a non-stop parade of stupidity and ass kissing for individuals and entire markets. diaf joe buck.

Ok, first you say you like Collinsworth and that he is "awesome." Collinsworth is OK, at best, and previously was plain awful.

Now, Aikman is awful? I suppose next you're going to say Mike Patrick, Paul MacGuire, and Joe Theismann were awesome too?

LOL, if I had to pick my all star lineup of announcers to get torched, it would probably be the old ESPN crew of Mike Patrick, Paul MacGuire, and Theismann. You know, just to ensure that they can never team up again. :awe:

Collinsworth is getting much better and is OK now. For the first few years of him being an announcer, he was TERRIBLE and was an arrogant douche. People are talking about team bias in this thread, but Collinsworth seriously was biased for anything involving wide receivers. Kind of like Dan Dierdorf is with offensive linemen.

I always liked Madden and really miss his announcing. In the same way I like Jaws and Gruden because both guys know football and give a little better insight than the others.

Surprised at the hate for Joe Buck. I thought I was the only one that loathed him. It's a shame because Troy does a good job though I wondered if those two had a thing outside of work.
