Best new small suv?

Dad is wanting a new small suv with 4WD.

Right now we are leaning towards the 4cylinder 4wd rav4

Crv is out of the running and so is the forester.
Any suggestions or experience with these cars?

Outback. Good ground clearance, better than most AWD system, 30mpg.

No towing, that's why considering the 4 cylinder Rav 4 instead of the V6.

I'll look into the Subaru, I'm trying to find the most Small SUV 4x4/4WD/AWD for under $25,000

Tiguan is a decent looking and has a four banger.

Drove the small ford 2wd hybrid. Not a bad ride, very car like. The 4wd should drive similarly.

Rav4 is a good choice. There are also 4wd versions of the element with a 4 cyl as well.

You may laugh but I'd give the new Kia Sportage w/ AWD a look.

The new Mazda cx5 is pretty sexy. Q1 of next year thou.
