Re: Grenre rants & arguments:

Get off it. It just doesn't matter, period. The lines between genres are going to be blurry a good chunk of the time, the only way to avoid it is to keep it so general (pop/rock, rap, country, etc) that it pretty much means nothing anyway. It is totally pointless to even concern yourself over it.

If you really want people to know what you're talking about, just list some example albums or songs, and feel free to add modifiers. ex: "a slightly happier, more polished 'yankee hotel foxtrot'"

Definitely. Lullibies to Paralyze is the best album I've heard in a long time.

The album has grown on me as well. Someone else mentioned The Arcade Fire album, which is pretty good but I'm not sure if it would fall under the type of "rock" the OP is looking for.

DMB - Stand Up

LOL, and you actually like music from that trash group System of a Down. Heard them perform on SNL. Sounded like two dogs humpin' while wearing shock collars that were turned up to full intensity.

LOL, the best hit DMB had lately was the cars their tour bus hit with sh!t.
As for SOAD's BYOB, I've only heard the studio version of it and it rocks. I haven't heard the rest of the Album so I can't say if it's any good or not.

I  SoaD, but they sucked on SNL last week. I'll just stick with the stuido versions of thier work. Great stuff.

I've been digging Seether and Mudvayne recently, as well. The Killer's "Hot Fuss" album is cool, too, but maybe a bit too light/pop to be considered rock.

DMB is NOT rock, frankly that is grounds for man card revocation. DMB was okay for a little while, STILL not rock then either, but turned into 100% whiney stupid whiteboy music. tell dave to get a toupee

Weezer - Make Believe

Just saw them in concert last night, best show Ive ever been to.

eh. really?

I'm a huge Weezer fan, but I thought their new album was boring as hell.

I thought SOAD on SNL sounded fine. It's live, it's not going to sound like processed studio music. I love how they can change tempos and rhythms multiple times during a song.....i also love how i can never remember how to spell rhythems
