I have a gift certificate to a music store and I am debating what new rock CD to buy. I want something that doesn't have just a couple good songs on it. What is a good CD you can just listen to without skipping tracks?

Sam Roberts - we were born in a flame.
The_White_Stripes_-_Live_Under_the_Blackpool_Lights
The Shins - Chutes too narrow
Bad Relgion - the empire strikes first
And you will know us by the trail of dead - worlds apart.
Death from above 1979 - Youre a woman, Im a machine
The_Dandy_Warhols_-_Thirteen_Tales_From_Urban_Bohemia-2002 - not as new, but great cover to cover

All of thoes I can listen cover to cover all day long.

Social Distortion - Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll

Pretty much a straight up American rock 'n' roll record from these boys...not a dud in the bunch.

If you loved GNR, then you might do yourself a favor and pick up

Velvet Revolver --- Contraband.

One hell of an album. I play it too much ;).

LOL, and you actually like music from that trash group System of a Down. Heard them perform on SNL. Sounded like two dogs humpin' while wearing shock collars that were turned up to full intensity.

LOL, the best hit DMB had lately was the cars their tour bus hit with sh!t.
As for SOAD's BYOB, I've only heard the studio version of it and it rocks. I haven't heard the rest of the Album so I can't say if it's any good or not.

Well, what kind of dogs? Because if it was like a Great Dane and a Chihuahua, that could sound pretty cool. If it was just a couple Labradors, it would suck.

I'd toss my vote to:

the arcade fire - funeral
or
Elf Power - walking with the beggar boys

but that's just me.

First you need a definition of a rock album. Everyone/every website has a different definition. I've been listening to hard rock/metal/heavy metal/rock for a very long time and I hate how today people are saying this and that is rock or metal or nu metal, etc. I also hate how a website will list U2 as hard rock.

I really wish there was a universal standard so that people would understand what everyone means by metal, hard rock, heavy metal, etc.

That said, there are very few CD's that only have good tracks and that's certainly based on the listener. The albums I've been listening to a lot lately are:
Slipknot - Subliminal Verses 3
Spinshank - Self Destructive Pattern
Stone Sour - Stone Sour
Seether - Disclaimer
Sinch - Clearing the channel

For my tastes those albums have 90% good tracks.

There isn't a good new rock CD.

And wtf did you suggest DMB for rock NFS4?

DMB is considered Rock...

AllMusic says...

Adult Alternative Pop/ Rock
American Trad Rock

So, not really.

IMO, there is no way DMB should possibly be considered "rock". The rock genre, to me, is music like Van Halen (with DLR) and others of that nature.

What the industry considers rock these days is so watered down and transformed that it bears no resemblance to its roots.
