well dude I'd say that v4.51 is the one ;-]
But from the other side I don't use it anymore cuz it always blocks ;-[ I think that BILLY G. has done something to the windows to block it so I use the IE5

I think my favorite was the stand-alone Navigator 4.08 w/128bit encryption. Here's a link to the Netscape FTP site to get it.

Version 3.0

I'm not saying that 3.0 is "better" than 4 or 6 because it has less abilities, but it was less bloated, buggy, and was better in it's time.

<< 3.01 Gold was my favorite >>

Agree. (Actually, I think that's what my mom is still running on her 486;) It can't handle much more)

netscape 3 gold for the old timers...
netscape 4.74 for new generations...
netscape 6? hmm... if only it's not 1/2 warner (aol), then it would be cool (i think)

3.0

The 4.x series always seemed to crash, which didn't happen with IE. Thats when I started turning to the darkside...

But now happily using Mozilla :)

thank you so much for all your replies. i think i'm going to try most
of the earlier version recommendations.

i know v6.0 is suck - heavy, bloated, slow, error prone, freezes galore, etc.

3.0 is version number i was not expected and looks enticing. i tried 4.7 a
couple years ago and greatly enjoyed it. why i never returned to it after
a harddrive meltdown at the time is still a mystery.

thanks again.

standalone was the best.. I remember seeing 4.6 as standalone, but cannot find it since

I use 4.7 a lot after IE invariably decides to crap out. Or I load up Opera and support the little guy.
