This answer only applies if the question is "Which team has Detroit beaten by 15 points twice this year?".

Who cares about the regular season. The Spurs will beat them again in the playoffs. The Spurs start to play their best ball in the spring, and this year will be no different.

Hopefully we will find out. The Spurs are a very good team, but Detroit just looks special this year.

Last year during the finals I was glued to the TV.

The Pistons also lost 4 out of 8 games in the preseason. Meanwhile, they are 30-5 in the regular season.

Detroit is the class of the NBA right now. The Spurs are right up there. Dallas is not far off and they did beat Detroit heads-up early in the season.

I would take Detroit over Dallas in a 7-game series.

in reality you really cant compare the records of different conferences or even different divisions within a conference since you play everyone a different amount of times. you play the most games against teams in your division (4 or 5 times each...i forget), so if you are in a very difficult division (like i would consider the mavericks/spurs to be in), you will play more games against good teams. whereas if you are in a very weak conference/division, more of your games are against weak opponents, which you should be winning more games against. so i do think that the piston's record is a little deceiving....they are in the weaker conference, and their division isnt all that stellar (2nd place is only 5 games over .500).

theres no denying that the pistons are the best team right now. but if they did play in the west (specially the southwestern division), there is no way they would have only lost 5 games right now, with playing 4 or 5 games each against teams like the spurs/mavs/grizzlies.

They've retained all they learned under Larry Brown on defense, and Flip has brought an actual efficient offense to the team. Very dangerous combo, obviously. The only way I see them not winning the title this year is if they start getting a few injuries. Even though they are the best team, they aren't a very deep team. They are really depending on that very strong starting five. As long as they keep healthy, they'll win the title.

they are a strong five tho. one injured player won't ruin their season. not like the spurs or heat, where the loss of Duncan or Wade would kill either of those teams.

i'd say the pistons are the best in the nba right now and might set the record for best season win/loss percentage. they are that dominant.

If Billups or Hamiliton were to go down with a season ending injury, the Pistons would be toast.

same can be said of every team in the NBA. No Duncan? No Finals. No Wade? No Finals. No Shaq? Buffet lines will be shorter, but no Finals. However, if Billups were to go down, the Pistons would rely on Carlos Arroyo as a starter. I still wouldn't count them out. If Rasheed went out, Antonio McDyess could start. Again, not a bad replacement at all. I'm not saying the Pistons are incredibly deep, but i do think they since their starting five is so balanced, losing any one of them won't be as detrimental as some other squads who are dependant on their star.

Exactly my point. I was responding to the post I quoted.

Pistons. As long as they can stay healthy they'll be fine.

I think the Spurs bench is a bit better though.

And I'm really impressed with what Phoenix is doing without Stoudemire. They could be downright lethal once he comes back.

It also applies to the question "Who beat the Pistons in the NBA Finals last year?" ;)

well your theory is spoiled by the fact that the Pistons have already had like 3-4 major West coast trips. they played more road games in their first 20 or so games than any team in the NBA. also, the Pistons are easily in the toughest Division in the East and arguably the 2nd toughtest division in the NBA (southwest being the toughest).

i think all the "if the Pistons were in the West" talk was debunked when they spanked the Lakers in '04 (when everyone declared the West the varsity league and the East, the JV) and even last season when they nearly beat the Spurs on their home floor in Game 7.

there's nothing deceiving about the Piston's record right now.

well, PlatinumGold said that the Pistons could sustain a season ending injury to a starter, while you claimed they'd be toast if they did. i was disagreeing with you.....i think the Pistons could sustain a player going out much better than any of the other top contenders can.

I havent seen phoenix play as much as I did last year....has there defense improved?...if not my money is still on the Spurs to win the WCF even with Amare on the team.

As far as who will win the finals this year...my vote goes for the pistons...they slaughtered the spurs in their last two meetings this year
