nero.

"new audio cd" -> then drag the mp3 files you want, click burn and it converts them and burns them on the fly

Nero's the most stable.. you can also try CDRWin (not too sure if it does MP3->WAV tho..).

While everybody's talking about Nero, does anyone know what nerocheck.exe does? It loads on bootup, and it's located in \winnt\system32\

Nero is the way to go. There are loads of options for editing the sound like normalizing and fade-in/out effects.
I don't know what you're talking about in reference to nerocheck.exe. There is no such file on my machine.

I go in steps, I've done this the first time i discovered mp3s until present day:

1: decompress mp3 to wav in winamp (DiskWriter, Output)
2. edit it if I have to in a program called GoldWave
3. open up Easy CD Creator, go into Audio, bring them in, and Burn. Works all the time, and the CDs come out fine, no hassles.

mpg123 (or xmms wave to disk output plugin) and cdrecord. absolutely perfect, and extremely flexible (there are probably GUI front ends for newbies too)
