Where did you get the info that the Vision:M uses the Wolfson audio decoder? I'd like a link please

i have no idea where to get a link for you, i read this over 2 months ago.

Vision:M has a new generation of internals. How could you postulate this from on old model to a new one? It is like comparing what a new iPod sounds like having only heard an old one.

true, but i was trying to make a point of the guy way above us dissing the ipod compared to the vision. he did not have a 5th gen ipod, and yet was making assumptions. I too did make an assumption, but at least i had an old product from them.

I'm not sure where you are getting this either.

my ears. i like music loud and crisp. the creative player was only able to give me that was with high end sennheisers. i guess because those can take the "punch" a bit better then my shure earphones. funny, because the distortion level is higher on the creative player then the ipod, and yet the creative distoreted at a volume that was not nearly uncomfortable for me, while the ipod will burst my ears before i hear any distortion.

It is 85watts. At both high and low volumes it performs very well and I have listened to it on very nice headphones.

lol, k u got my point about the portabilty. polk audio is not portable :p (those polk speakers u mention are polk audio correct?)

The Vision:M does not have EAX, it was removed from their players

are you serious!?

Hahah, you got that right, those speakers (polk audio) are in no way portable. And yea, they took out EAX...I'm not sure why though. It may cut down on battery but if you like tolisten to music it is always worth it to just have it.

One consideration may be the ability to resume from power-off where you left off. Say in playing audio books. Most players DO NOT do this. Zen does. Iriver also resume. Most the others dont. you have to FF to your listening point. (a real pain)

That's funny. I just turned on my Nano after leaving it off for 3 days, and it resumed at 1:03 into track 7 of 13 on the playlist I had left it at.

I also just dusted off my old Rio 500 to check. I turned it on and nothing. I had to replace the battery. Put in the new battery, turn it on, and ... OK ... it restarted at the beginning of track 5, folder 2. But the Rio 500 has a "Bookmark" button specifically for audio books.

Can think of any MP3 players that can't resume?

This is an interesting topic. My biggest concern (after price) at this point is compatability. I rip my CDs to WMA lossless with EAC, and I've had recognition issues on the players I have (note: not portable units).

I just checked my Diamond Multimedia Rio PMP300, I hope you recognize what player I'm talking about, and it does not have the resume. Suprise!

Well, you should be able to have your lossless WMA files with all your tags in them and iTunes can convert that to AAC. I mean, AAC is so efficient the space the extra files take is pretty negligable to someone who stores lossless files.

If you want hardware support, you're better off with FLAC or ALAC, but being the gorrilla that MS is, I'm sure pretty soon all the players will come around and support WMA lossless.

It won't be cheap but I have one of the current gen Sansas (512mb + 1gb SD onboard) and it's a great little unit for the $ once you load the newest firmware on it.

I just picked up a e140 (1GB onboard) along with a 2GB SD card for $110 or so (AR). Gets you 3GB of music for a pretty good price.

I am loving my Sandisk Sansa e270 6 GB mp3 player, which I bought from newegg for $230.

Compare it's features ann $$ with Nano !!
Only think I don't like about this sansa series is the dial - it's cheaply build, but the player itself is solid.
