Was just talking to a buddy about Grumpy Old Men and realized that is another series where the sequel was better than the first. Grumpier Old Men is better than Grumpy Old Men and is a really great movie.

No love for The Matrix? That was epic! All three are one continuous movie. I didn't see the first two in the theater, but I made sure to see Revolutions in the theater. Pretty awesome.

Empire is the clear and only winner.

Aliens and T2 were great movies on their own, but very, very different types of movies from their predecessors. The thing is that both of those original flicks are also completely great on their own, today. whereas Star Wars episode IV really is just a shitty, shitty movie, no matter how much I or any other fan still love it...it's just a godawful piece of crap. This greatly enhances how phenomenal Empire is in comparison.

Here's the Rotten Tomato rankings of each SW movie:
  1. The Empire Strikes Back: 94%

  2. The Force Awakens: 93%

  3. A New Hope: 93%

  4. Rogue One: 85%

  5. Return of the Jedi: 80%

  6. Revenge of the Sith: 79%

  7. Attack of the Clones: 66%

  8. The Phantom Menace: 55%

I'm assuming what I have is the SE. What's an SE-specific scene? I watch it like once a month at least.

The main differences are the beginning colony scene and the turret scene which were cut from the theatrical release. It really completely changes the movie -- in a good way.

Oh, right, I remember now that the newt-as-a-kid and the shitheads running around the air ducting in the beginning scenes. Yeah, def the SE version then.
