Simple question, what is considered the best mouse.

Have been looking at the Logitech cordless mouseman optical

Also the MS intellimouse explorer/optical

Any thoughts?

Thanks

logitech...they make the nicest mouses ergonomically...i haven't found another manufacturer that makes such a comfortable mouse.

as for precision/performance, they're roughly on a par w/ eachother...honestly, how could they not be (esp. since they're top mice manufacturers)...

I definitly agree. Logitech makes the best mice. I have had the Logitech MouseMan Wheel Optical for a long time now and it is awesome. Feels great, looks great, accurate. Couldn't ask for more...except cordless.

I think Logitech are better, the corded Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel rocks! btw if you are a serious gamer then the corded mice are better in games due to the high sampling rate.

Logitech is the way forward. The slope on the mouse is ergonomically designed. The looks, i.e the blue light, and the semi-see through casing gives it style. The cord is thicker than MS ones which make it withstand more, and generally if you look on these forums its like every other day a MS one dies and a thread comes up... with Logitech there is one post about it going wrong once every blue moon...

So Logitech it should be.

Hope this helps,

Albert.

EDIT: For you there will be no L.E.D if its cordless and also it will have no cord, but everything else is good with it and solid.

the asymmetrical shape of logitech mice I have seen is a problem for me. the MS wheelmouse optical is getting good comment. 3 year guarantee is very good for something that costs $25

Did I say I was after the cordless one? I see MANY threads about the MS mice breaking often.

Logitech mice come with a 5 year guarantee,I`ve yet to have a Logitech mouse fail me,on reliability they definetly have the edge over Microsoft.

Logitech.

I've had numerous MS mice die on me, while the Logitech ones (one is even more than 5 years old) still work flawlessly.

The Logitech mice also feel more solid (less cheap) than the MS ones.

I like microsoft mice. Plus when mine started acting funny they sent me a new one in 2 days. Not too shaby.

I tried both Logitech and Microsoft, and for me personally Microsoft's mouse definetely has a better feel and response. On Logitech's mouse after about a month wheel started slipping and mouse would jump from one side of the screen to another. At the same time, Microsoft's Intellimouse optical has been working for me flawlessly for the past 6 month.

Upfront, I want to state that egronomics is very subjectitive.

I own the Intellimouse Explorer and think that overall it is a a pretty good mouse. No problems with it thus far. However egronomics wise I am not too happy with it. I've tried the Logitech and personally prefer it because of the longer "heel".

I do like the additional button it has over the mouseman optical which makes internet surfing easier (go back and forward pages)

I have two MS intelimouse explorers on systems in my house. I just love the thing..all silvery...despite the hefty price tag.

I am a Logitech man myself only because of the mouseman. I have an original mouseman (not optical or cordless) and it feels great to use. The problem is I want to get an optical mouseman really bad but the one I have just won't quit so I can't justify the purchase.

I like the MS Optical. The "ergonomic" Logitech mouse just feels funny in my hand.

Add another vote for Logitech. I use the Trackman Marble FX and even though it definitely favors righties I can and do easily use it with either hand. I have also used all manner of MS, Logi and other mice and favor the MouseMan Wheel either cord or cordless, optical or ball. Logi's lower-end mice (First Mouse+ etc.) are ambidextrous and work just fine but don't support the hand as well and lack a button or two. Remember, there are some surfaces that the optical mice just won't work on (black glass, shiny textureless opaque plastic, etc.)- it has to have some texture or pattern to detect.
.bh.
ps. MS keyboards and mice aren't actually made by MS (unless things have changed recently). They are made by Keytronics for MS.bh.
