You are probably going to get about one answer for each person that posts. I have the MS Intellimouse with the Intellieye, but others claim that the light cannot track fast movements well enough for FPS gaming (then how do I consistently end up at or near the top when I play? hmmm...). I think it depends on style of play for that preference.

I have used both a Kensington scroll mouse and the MS Intellimouse. The MS mouse is better. I have not used Logitech or the MS Explorer or the Razor Boomslang, which some people love. It comes down to personal preference, really, but you do need the ability to set the sampling rate of the PS/2 port to increase senstivity (that does help). Also, when you change mice, it will take some adjustment before you become proficient with a new one.

Logitech Optical all the way. I have had an explorer... the only thing better about it is the fact you have 5 buttons (which 4 can be used for quake). I have the Logitech using all 3 buttons and the scroll-wheel and it kicks! It's alot lower profile then the bulky explorer and not to mention it's smoother. I'm glad I sold my explorer and got the better $21.00 (on sale at Staples) Optical Logitech.

Pretty much everyone is happy with what they have unless they bought a pos. Get anyone popular mouse and you will be fine.

I have a boomslang 2k and would never go back to anything else. Matter of fact i like it so much i went out and bought another just in case i break my primary one. But if i were you i would try them out first like at BestBuy or some major computer store. These are the top ones i can suggest(I am a Hardcore Gamer);

ReMeDy{WcS}, the Logitech Gaming Mouse looks good and all, but could you really play UT of Quake 3 without the good-ol weapon changing scroll wheel?

Definitely take ReMeDy's advice and try differnet ones out if you can.
If's depends on your own hand size, shape, preferences, etc.

For me, Razer Boomslang 2000 all the way.
