My Problem
Trying to play RTS and need utmost precision -
Specifically a mouse that senses the slightest movement and goes there -
My current one does not respond half the time to small moves etc

G5/G7 would probably be the best. My G5 died and right now I'm on my older MX510. You can deffinitly tell that the G5 has a much higher DPI then the MX510 when you play CS:S.

If you want a wire, go G5.

If you don't want a wire (meaning wireless) go G7.

the Razor line is very precise, but I HATE the shape of the mouse.

Best mouse I've ever used is the Logitech G5, not even close.

I have the G5, very precise whether you're moving slow or fast. When going fast I can turn on a time for example and know where I'm going to be aiming when I'm done... and as far as precision goes I can move my mouse over 1 pixel at a time (17" monitor) and I'm using a sh!tty old mousepad.

I would guess any laser mouse would do. Don't get the one from microsoft though, I find the extra side buttons, awkward to press.

I went back to my micosoft optical mouse. More comfortable. I don't need the extra precision, or to move across the screen at the speed of light.

G7 (the new carbon fiber edition since it has better side grips - more like a G5) If I remember correctly, it is a lot lighter than the mx1000. Pluse the shape is perfect! I had the G5 as well, but the cord did seem to get in the way sometimes.

Also, I believe newer Logitech mice (compatible with their setpoint software - not the older mouseware) can bing to keyboard combos. For instance I set my G5 left - right scroll to back (ALT-<left arrow key>) and forward (ALT-<right arrow key>) for better compatability with Firefox. At the time I set it, I believe there was a bug in the software that didn't allow the default back - forward to work with Firefox.

2000 DPI laser mouse and adjust your settings until you get what you want.

Your best bet would probably be a Razer Copperhead or Logitech G5 (I don't know of any other quality 2000dpi laser mouse on the market that is geared towards gaming).

The flaw with the MX1000 is that it was a pioneer laser mouse, and thus is far from being the best. The G7 would be better, but like the MX1000, its wireless and thus you've got a flaw right there (I still don't believe wireless and gaming mix, although the G7 is pretty slick with the swappable battery packs).

The Razer Copperhead is probably going to be a little more expensive than the Logitech G5, although it is a smidgen technically superior. If you don't think you can get used to a finger mouse, go with the Logitech.

I love my Copperhead, but it took a while to get used to the grip (vs. my MX510 which I loved). I'm actually glad I went through with the slight learning curve, as I think that the grip is better for me (prevents me from getting lazy on the mouse). It also took a while to get it set up just right (these laser mice are just so damn sensative), I was used to the MX510 where I plugged it in and it felt perfect right out of the box, but was definitely worth it.

My first choice would be Logitech G5/G7(I prefer G5 as I do not want to deal with any possible wireless problems). After that, it would be Logitech MX518/MX1000(Again, I would choose the 518 over the 1000 due to wires)

razer krait would be extremely ideal for RTS games. I think its a just a slightly tweaked razer diamondback, I own the Plasma limited edition one, and i can vouge that its extremely precise with 1600dpi and an infrared optical port. Depends on preference, logitech goes for the more palmy feel, where you grasp the whole mouse and delivers a more comfortable feel. Razer sticks more to the conventional shape of a mouse, but offers performance for gamers, dont get me wrong the Razer still is very ergonomic, it has curves underneath for your thumb and the clickers are also shaped to the grooves of your fingers, made of a very soft plastic almost like rubber. I prefer razer, because when you think of it, your really using your fingers to control a mouse and not as much palm. Try only using your fingers to control your mouse, then try only your palm. Do you see that your fingers are more precise? thus are more required for precise movements. Logitechs mice offer too much palm grip and have no support wat so ever for the fingers, its like 2 thin plastic clickers that are very loud and slope downwards which makes it very strange for me. Whichever you choose your going to have to adjust at first, but the migration to a razer will feel more natural. Up to you, hope that helps.
