Best motherboard for a p2 400mhz (slot 1)?

Saw the "best slot A board for a 600mhz" and decided to ask for a p2 400mhz. My old abit bx6 has some startup problems. Thanks.

Tyan Trinity 400 (1854).

It also has the advantage of also having a Socket 370, so you can upgrade to a 370 cheap and keep the same MOBO.
It's pretty stable, mine was running for a year and a half, no hitches, no glitches, no BSODs...no complaints from me, I liked it. The only reason it's not on-line now is that I got bit by the Dual bug and I snatched the proc from it to build a dual system.

FWIW

Was going to supggest any of the asus p2b's or p3f's, the abit and my favourite, the aopen ax6bc. All BX chipsets, best for the p2's.
These are the ones I've had experience with.

I dont think the via chipset is any advantage to the P2. I've had a couple of them, including the tyan 400 and found them a bit quirky to set up unlike any BX cs mb.

<< Asus P3B-F. >>

^^^ Had one for 2 years with no problems. You can easily get a sloket if you decide to
upgrade to a P3 someday. I used the board with both a P2-333@412 and a P3-700@721*.
(CPU heat issues kept me at 103 FSB)

I guess I should've asked for a board that's still being sold because most of the mentioned ones aren't available. Here are the one's I've seen online and considering:

gaindward
lx board - 19.95
bx board - 34.95
apollo pro 133 - 34.95
apollo pro 133a - 39.95

soyo
bx board (6ba+iii) - 39.95

Any suggestions?

I hafta say, the single most reliable mobo I've ever dealt with is the Asus P2B.

We sold loads and loads of those where I worked at the time of the BX, and extremely few came back(I don't think I ever replaced one).

Mine is still chugging along after all these years.

Soyo series boards all BX based...excellent choice for P2 or P3 (i still have 1 of each, all working perfectly)
BA+ (sisters pc with celeron 300a)
BA+ III (testing machine, p2-400 currently)
BA+ IV (current server at home P3-800)

Asus P2B series another great choice
