I have heard various opinions in different threads about which motherboard is the best for OCing a AMD 64 and there never has been a concensus on which board to use and so I want everyone to discuss which board would the best to use and why? I am looking at AMD 64, WD SATA Raptor 74, Mushkin 3200 and ATI Pro 9800.

Okay....

You're going to want at least an agp lock which most via boards don't offer so you're best bet is to go with the nforce3 chipset...

i think there is a via board out that has both agp and pci lock but can't remmeber which one it is...

i hear that also the SATA ports on the mobo crap out around 237 mhz while others have had better luck...

so what most people do in order to use their SATA drives is buy a pci SATA card that has a fixed frequency of 33 mhz no matter what the fsb of the mobo is at....

my recommendation and my recommendation to lots of people is the shuttle an50r...

but the other nforce3 boards are nice as well...

also if you can wait, rumor has it that the new nforce3 250 chipset boards are supposed to be out soon for the socket 754 A64's...

Another happy AN50R users here. My 3000+@2.4ghz is fairly whimpy compared to Shim's but I'm not complaining :)
