find a sony fw-900 24" Widescreen CRT on ebay for $200-$300. if you can, find a place you can pick it up locally so you can inspect the screen b4 taking it and avoid shipping charges. although a huge and heavy CRT, it's incredible: resolutions up to 2304x1440 @ 80 Hz (and it can change resolutions extremely well, unlike most LCD's), fantastic colors, great detail (dot pitch). it originally retailed for $2300 or so, but since no one wants big CRTs any more, you can pick this one up pretty cheap now.

I have the 20.1" BenQ widescreen (I have 5 LCD screens at home...) - it's not bad, but I would recommend the 22" Acer over it. The panels come from the same manufacturer (I believe) but the Acer panel is newer. No reason not to spend a little extra and get a larger screen. The Acer is selling for $317 shipped right now. If I could trade my 20"WS BenQ in for the Acer, and pay the difference, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I used the 20" BenQ widescreen for about 3 months, but the pixel size was too small, and I didn't like the screen size being short in the vertical direction (only slight taller than a 17" 5:4 LCD screen). I prefer the LCD in my sig. (4:3 aspect, so larger screen space), although what I'd really like is a large widescreen like the Acer.

I got the monitor in my sig for $269 at compusa. Im sure you could find it cheaper if you looked. I have been VERY satisfied with the purcahse. The colors jump off the screen and it is just a quality product.
