I'm looking to upgrade to a Mobile 2500 (and overclock it of course), but i'm not sure about the best motherboard to get. I'm guessing a NForce2 board, but which one? I'm on the budget-oriented side btw, poor college kid u see :frown:.

I also have a K8 SilentBoost and a 512 DIMM of Corsair XMS 2700 which I will probably use, thought I might upgrade to a a gig of ram soon.

Thanks! :D

I'm OCing my Mobile Barton 2500+ at 2.5ghz right now using a Biostar M7NCG-400 nForce2 motherboard. $60 at Newegg right now I think. That should be cheap enough for ya, since I'm a bit cheap myself... :)

I wouldn't recommend DFI infinity/LanParty unless you are willing to flash your bios to beta/alpha ones and void your warrenty. Safest way is to go with the NF7/NF7-Sv2.0
DFI mobo's are having alot of issues right now, until they are resolved...

They're solid mobos, but on the NF2 side, the Abit and DFI are overclocking beasts compared to the Asus.

For the budget conscious, there's nothing better than the Abit NF7. The higher end DFI's are good , but expensive.

yeah i know. that's the reason i went with Abit and not Asus. Plus, ABIT sounds and looks cooler.

A K8 SilentBoost won't fit... unless you mean K7. K8 SilentBoost is for AMD64s.

NF7-s or DFI lanparty if you want to spend the money and like the extras it comes with.

AN7 is apparently a bugged upgrade of the NF7-S Rev 2.0, proving to not overclock as well in general. As far as it goes, the NF7-S is a proven performer and imo its not worth the risk going for an AN7.
