best mobo for sempron 3000+ ?

Welcome to the forums!

Any Nforce2 mobo should do fine, which one to pick depends on what features you want, how much you want to spend, and if you want to OC or not.

yes, i can do oc but not very important , i'll use for web desing & programing , multimedia , surfing etc.
also i need memory and video card advice...

thanks for fast replys ...

I don't know much about socket a boards. Mainly I would look for an NF2 chipset (some via ones can be touchy, especially with OCing). As for memery, just grab 1GB corsair value select for $80. Great deal. My memory (mushkin value, same specs) cost $50 more on sale 5 months ago...

Do you plan on doing any gaming? What type of games? A video card really doesn't matter unless you play games, so if not, just get the cheapest thing you can find...

Abit nf7-s v2 looking good , actually i wanna use dual screen and i like games 🙂 my budget for video card near to 100 $ .

i found this deal.

how is looking ?

Looks like a great, feature rich board...

What type of games? $100 is not going to play Doom3 or HL2 without some major tweaks. Do you need dual DVI or is VGA alrigh. Maybe just look for the cheapest card with dual DVI...

so if i buy 6600 gt , can i play doom3 hl2 ? sempron 3000 . 1 gb ram and 6600 gt are they enough for today 3d games ?

I built a Sempron 3000+, VIA KT880 with a 9800XT and 1GB PC3200 and was able to play Doom3 and HL2 @ 1024 resoultion. Granted, not all the AA+AF settings were maxed out or there. A few graphics tweaks here and there. But everything was playable.

So, A 6600 would provide better performance.

Yeah, my 6600gt is plenty for 1280x1024 2x2x in HL2. Doom3 you may have to back it off a bit more... It really is a great midrange card. What is you budget? The 6800 is a little more (sometimes they can be found around $200). It is quite a bit faster and can be softmodded into a 6800gt. Worth a look...

You got an AMD Sempron, so you're obviously looking at a system on a budget.

Just get an nFroce 2 IGP chipset which is an Nforce 2 chipset with an intergrated GeForce 4 MX included. That is easily fine for web surfing etc, and 'very' light gaming. The boards all have an AGP slot as well, if you find you need to "upgrade" the GFX etc. And very cheap!!

Eg.

Grab your self 2x 512mb DDR PC3200 as the nForce 2 supports dual channel ram.

Cheers.

Welcome to the AT Forums!

I happen to like KT880 based mobos for Sock-A CPUs from Abit, Asrock, Asus or MSI.

.bh.

I personally think you're spending too much on the video card. Even though it states rebate, It would only be a deal if you actually receive the rebate. It outwieghts your main component, which is the cpu. Your CPU will be the bottleneck for that card. I would personally, get a 6600GT for like $130, an Arctic NV Silencer and overclocked it. Atleast you'll have a performance balance in your system between the 2 main components.

I also would've purchased the Epox KT880 from mWave for $7 more. Faster than the board you selected. Again, this is all my opinion, I could be wrong.

When you finish building the system post back a summary, with results.
