Well, maybe this should be in the motherboard section but maybe I'll post in both. Right now I have a 350PII with a 440bx mobo but my bios wont take my new celeron366(because my machine is an IBM,no room for upgrade). So I wanted to know what a good mobo would be for my celeron366 (@550). Hopefully something with onboard soundcard. I was thinking abit/asus but I need some suggestions.

Forgot to add, that my current mobo multipliers go upto 5.5 and either 100mhz or 66mhz fsb. So its just my bios that wont take the new processor(i've tried flashing but ibm doesnt add processor support in their flashes)

that's funny - if you have a 5.5 multiplier and 66fsb and 100fsb the chip should run fine at least at 366. if it is a slot 1 366 it won't do 550 anyhow.

The processor i got is the socket370 w/ the converter to slot1. The problem is when i put it in I get an error 5555 saying something like the bios doesnt recognize the processor, (i have PII and bios probably doesnt support celeron) What kinda mobo should i get?

assuming you have an ATX case and don't want to spend a bundle, get a good BX board on the FS/FT board. Good BX boards are: soyo BA series, MSI 6163 series, abit BF6, BE6, even newer revs of the BH6 (as long as you confirm they have no problems), Aopen AX6BC series, Asus P2B, P3B. Alot of these can be had for $90+/- (except the asus P3B)new too. you have many excellent boards to choose from - might also want to make sure the board you get is coppermine capable so you have upgrade options. good luck.

The Soyo 6BA+III upwards supports the coppermine.
Ref the Aopen boards make sure you get 1 with bios cpu voltage adjust if your slotket doesn't have jumpers for voltage

Take a hard look at the ASUS CUSL2, it will do everything you want and leave room for upgrade to PIII Coppermine, supports 66, 100, & 133 FSB, CPU voltage adjustments, takes any AGP video card instead of it's on board video....

I've got a 366 @ 550 on an Epox BX-3. It's been rock solid for over a year now. I don't remember all the specs and multipliers, but I know I don't have it maxed out yet.

I have had my 366@550 on both my BE6-II & my BF6... Very happy with the FSB selection on both mobos. These 2 mobos were the sh!t back when the 366@550 was the sh!t. Great combo.
