First, I was going to get the 6600 GT, but then I was convinced to go to get the MSI ATI X800 Pro for $200. However, it recently increased to $240 and I would like to spend as close to $200 as possible.

Does anyone recommend something that's around the $200 price range? I would like it to be as future proof as possible...

best card under 200 is the 6800

yea that's what i'm going to get. i'm just waiting for the prices to drop after nvidida released it's new stuff. hopefully it's not gonig to take too long because the rest of my computer parts are coming in at the end of this week

good. i kinda went by the gamespot article where they benchmarked the cards performance under 200 dollars. the 6800 looked very good as far as performance and such.

Although I'm not familiar with the x800pro, I've heard that 90% of these cards can be hard modded to an x800xtpe. All it takes is a little conductive paint. I'm not sure if its the PCI-e version though.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a...30231&ATT=Video+Cards&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me

should i bother waiting for prices to drop and getting a different vendor or just go with this? asus? bfg?
keep in mind i'm building a new comp and i have everything already, and i just ordered the processor (amd x2) today.
i'm hoping that in 2-3 years, i can get another one of these cards and go sli

and is there a difference between opengl 1.5 and opengl 2.0?
