Hay guys I have been going though all these threads about what?s the best 100 dollar video card. Every one says it?s the TI 4200, my question is who makes the best board. I have seen (watch my spelling) albertron, PNY, Chinatech, MSI ?. I?m on googlegear.com and I see a Chinatech TI 4200 64mb card for like 85 dollars. What do you think?

[L=If I did this right, this is the link to the Google Gear Video Card page]http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ThirdCategoryList.jsp?SecondCategoryCode=0122

That's chaintech, not chinatech :p
Most of the ti4200's are about the same. Asus makes one that's a bit better, but it's a ways over the $100 mark. IMO, just get the cheapest you can find. None of them really seem to be bad, except gainward was having all those problems with bad caps.

There is probably a reason why the Chaintech card is priced lower than the other cards. It might be just fine, but that is up to you whether or not to take a chance. I have two of the Asus cards from compgeeks (128mb "new pulls" oem, no driver disk, plain package for $90 after coupon + shipping see thread in hot deals) and they work great. One came with Hynix 3.6 ram and the new one that I received yesterday came with Samsung 4.0 ram. I also have an MSI 128 mb card that I got from newegg a year or so ago that also has worked flawlessly and overclocked to 290/580. I still think the Ti4200 cards are the best bang for the buck right now. I am amazed their prices have stayed as high as they have for as long as they have.

Asus V8420S... almost every one of them is guaranteed to overclock to the speed of a Ti4600, and many of them can go higher. Such as mine, at 325/650. (Ti4600's run at 300/650)
But th en again... the V8420S isn't $100, it's almost $150... but $150 still isn't bad for a Ti4600 =)

Get a card with 128MB video memory. All brands are pretty good, except I've had bad experiences with these brands: eVGA, Powercolor, & Chaintech. So avoid those. Asus & Gainward are suppose to be the best.

Gainward has some big problems with their 128mb Golden Sample ti4200s. Many of them have been failing and crashing. I know every piece of hardware has failures, but this particular one has a pretty high failure rate. I would avoid the Gainward ti4200. I have 2. Both are still going. One of them has crashed 3x with the "checkerboard" crash that is indicative of a failing card.

Oh nevermind. I've been out of the video loop since I bought my 9500 in the beginning of this year :\

Yep Gainward had a batch of really bad 4200 cards,I would go with Leadtek,Albatron,XFX,MSI.

Look at price and features(software included) and decide what`s best for you.
