Best Main Stream Card PowerColor 9600 Pro

Hey! As a serious gamer, I highly recommend this PowerColor! I bought this card few months ago to replace my Geforce4 4200. With this new babe, I am able to play quite a number of 3D games, including C&C Generals, Unreal 2003/4, Diablo 2, War Craft 3 and even the newest Far Cry. It rocks. Compared to my old Geforce4 4200, this 9600 Pro produced much detailed graphic and smoother frame plays. I set most of game with FSAA @ 4x, and couldn?t make this card sweet. When I had a LAN party with my friend who had 9800 pro, both of us were hardly able to notice any performance difference! And I am ready to experience more Dirext9 based 3D games this year. Not forget to mention, this PowerColor 9600 Pro can over-clocks like a dream. I don?t know what circuit PowerColor had put into this card; a 10% performance increase is by default. Moreover, I was able to boost my 3D benchmark score by 18%, with a customized heatsink and fan. Hey! PowerColor rocks! Highly recommended!😎

Thats a great card and I am glad you enjoy it but even if it is a good mainstream card I would highly caution any gamer from buying it because of its price.

Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb 400/600 (GPU/Mem) $129

but

Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb (325/620) $165

So for $36 you get wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy faster performance. Also if you play at 1600x1200 4AA/8AF you will definately notice a difference between a 9800Pro and your card. But what am I saying i am chugging along with my obsolete 8500 🙁

That doesn't mix with 9600 Pro
Not exactly the most demanding game out there...
When I had a LAN party with my friend who had 9800 pro, both of us were hardly able to notice any performance difference
Friend? You and a singular friend doesn't constitute a LAN party. What's your friend's config like? I bet he had a crappy setup or he was running higher detail levels or AA\AF
And I am ready to experience more Dirext9 based 3D games this year.
I hope you know that you'll have to turn down some of the eye candy, that 9600 Pro is gonna choke on more complex stuff

10% increase over what? A Ti4200? I doubt that. That's a hell of a heatsink to boost that random unnamed 3D benchmark score 18%. I didn't know a hunk of metal could do that.

In raw power my old Ti4600 (at 300/700) whomped all over a 9600 Pro even after I overclocked the 9600 Pro to 475\630. AA and AF were another story, but if that benchmark you were referring to is one of those that people like to mock, you had something configured wrong to have the 9600 Pro beating the Ti4200 by that wide of a margin, and don't forget that in MockedBench03, the Ti4200 can't run that fourth test, making it a dumb comparison.

Anyways, welcome to the forums! Fanboys are flogged daily by request.

im seriously considering holding off on video card upgrades until next gen. twice the performance sounds very pleasing.

same esp if nV40 6800 is $299 and 9800Pro right now is $200 => $99 extra buys you A WHOLE LOT.

pfffffffffft 😕 9600 pro? no thanks. next video card, NV40 or bust.

i've held out long enough, it'll have to be a huge jump to be worthwhile. oh and to buy a 9600 right now is just a waste IMO. but as long as "you" are happy with it...

Great! This is the guys first post on the forum and you guys crap all over him:disgust:

He is happy with his card, why not just let him enjoy it?

The mob is fickle.

Hey! everyone

Thanks for reply me post.

but, 256MB for 9600 Pro is too much! don't you think so? Also, I bought this powercolor few months ago, back then, 9800 or 9700 was about twice the price of 9600!

Talking about Econ term of "price equilibrium", I believed both 9800 and 9700 were over-valued, and 9600 had a fair price.

I was very surprised when I was able to run the ATI 3D demo made for 9800 with my 9600!

It seems both 9600 and 9800 have the same special effects or architecture!

That doesn't mix with 9600 Pro

just because he doesnt have the latest and greatest doesnt mean he isnt a serious gamer

example: a friend of mine got a good deal on a dell w/ a 9800 pro and he doesnt have a single game installed. another friend still has a ti4400, but he spends atleast 3 hours a day gaming. i would consider the second friend a serious gamer
