Best Looking/Performing BLACK CD-ROM/DVD Drive for BLACK Aluminum Case?

Hi guys.

I have a CoolerMaster ATC-201B-BXT All Aluminum All Black case.
http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage...25-08.jpg/11-119-025-01.jpg/11-119-025-02.jpg

I bought a black Samsung CD-RRW and DVD ROM for it.
They are the ones with the non-standard look to them.

Performance is good, but the color noticably does not match the case.
Whether it is because the black used on the drives is not rich enough or because the grainy texture on the drives screws up the color, I am not sure.

Surprisingly, the color of the Samsung floppy I bought matches the case black very well.

I did not expect it to match perfectly because obvously the case is aluminum and the drives bezels would be plastic.
I do not want to buy those stick-on bezels.

What I want to know is which black CD-RW and DVD ROM will match my case color the best and will peform well?
I know there may not be perfect matches, but who comes closest with good performance and reasonable noise levels.

I wouldn't mind reading alternatives to matching my drive colors using paint, etc.
Like I said, the drives are good, so I wouldn't mind using them, but the color does not match.

Thank you!

I have that same case, but I just ended up using some krylon fusion paint on my dvd+rw and my floppy and it matches perfectly.

Thank you for your response!

I may just keep my drives and paint them.

However, out of curiousity, I'd still like to know at least one brand that already comes with a nice paintjob. :)

Heck, are there any true aluminum-bezel-ready drives out there?

I don't know of any aluminum-bezel drives, but Lian-Li makes a pretty slick bezel with a flip-down drawer cover: link However, I suspect this is built particularly for Lian-Li cases, so you might want to email FrozenCPU and ask if they think it would work for the Coolermaster too.

Personally, I got a Sony CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive from Newegg but I don't have my black Lian-Li yet. I do have my black Lian-Li aluminum memory-card reader, however, and the Sony matches it great.

I have a Lite-On DVD 166S in black and a Yamaha CRW-F1 that I dyed black. Both drives are at the top of their game as far as performance goes, and they both look at home in my silver Cooler Master.

Let me know if you want to sell one of your bay covers! :)

I'm a noob at this modding business.

I've heard of stealthing, but I'm not sure what it is.

Please explain. :)

the goal of stealthing is to make it look like no drive is there.

since cases come with bay covers, the first mod, and continuing "stealth" mods refer to using the bay cover to cover the face of a drive. the cd-rom drive, for example, is installed recessed into the case's face (not all cases can allow this however). the bay cover is then cut or trimmed appropriately for the case (case dependent) and then some small blocks are applied to the button of the drive. once the tray is all the way IN ,the bay cover is flush with the front, and by pressing on the bay cover, the tray ejection button is also pressed through the small block.

this is not always possible, so those lucky few who can, and care to do so, do.
