Of the current bands, I have to admit being very partial to Great Big Sea. Lotta fun to see, especially when the crowd gets into it. Check out their album "Road Rage" to see what I mean.

Best of all time IMHO has to be the David Lee Roth days of Van Halen. Yeah, I know Diamond Dave is a fat, balding nobody nowadays, but back then, wow.......

Lenny Kravitz put on one hell of a show, I'm no fan at all and only went because my friend got free tickets, but I was very impressed with how well he performed live.

Also I enjoyed Incubus a lot as well.

For not being a huge fan of his music, I was very impressed by Ben Folds' live show--funny banter and great crowd involvement.

He's not really a band, but the Eric Clapton concert I went to was phenomenal.

Alice Cooper put on a great show back in the day when he was still "In", as did Judas Priest. I saw Britney perform back in 2002 and her show was quite entertaining as well. Janet Jackson shows are also very well done.

Peter Gabriel

/thread.

other notables would be Radiohead, pearl jam, and REM.

Flaming lips are up there too, but it's questionable to what extent you can call that a "concert"

RHCP puts on a good show and has some quality albums, but IMO fruciante's solo stuff is way better. Have the peppers ever produce a 65 minute, 18 track album where EVERY track kicks ass? haven't seen frusciante live yet so I don't know about his show.

flaming lips shows are a crazy fun experience...I just don't know if I'd call it a concert since so much of it is on tape.

now that I think about it, I'd add pre-good news modest mouse to the list as well. and wilco.

Phish!

OK ... current? I have no idea. 311 would probably bwe a good show from what I've heard. Or Badfish, the Sublime cover band.

yeah they have, live @slane and live @hyde lol; i think their album work is piss poor, but their live stuff is FANTASTIC. seeing flea/chad/john jam for 16 minutes after give it away = :bigthumb;

i can't listen to JF's solo work; esp. the stuff that he did uh while he was away from the peppers

I thought the Grateful Dead were always considered one of the best live performers? Not that I like their music, live or otherwise, but it's something I've always heard.

both good releases but I don't think I'd say every track kicks ass.

frusiante's heroin years certainly weren't his best, but I'd rank Shadows Collide With People above anything RHCP has put out. I think a big part of it is that kiedis' voice really starts to wear on me on some songs. There's a point where he almost starts to charicature himself.

I saw Nickelback in concert last summer. they put on a good show.

I also saw Live in concert in baltimore. That was an awesome show, too, althought it was really really loud. It was louder than it needed to be.

Saw a few videos of In Flames. Sure, they have fire/small explosions...but their vocalist goes crazy (which is good) BUT he sounds terrible.

So not them

Kids In the Way (purevolume.com/kidsintheway) was really good, same with Still Remains, Haste the day, and Blindside

:D
