Best Live Albums? Not the band Live :)

Metallica - Live Sh!t: Binge and Purge 3 disc set

Iced Earth - Alive in Athens 3 disc set

Tesla. 5 man acoustical jam

Might not like the band, might not like the music but I'm pretty sure they were the first ones to do a unplugged live album.

Rush - Different Stages. It could possibly be the best live album I've ever heard. Of course it might get trumped by the upcoming DVD and 3 CD live set Rush in Rio. Others live albums I like have already been mentioned.

First of all, let me say I have never been a fan of live compilations. In fact, I don't think I have more than 5 live albums in my entire collection.

However, I recently stumbled upon Vertical Horizon - Live Stages and think it's excellent for a live compilation.

FYI, before their breakout CD, Everything You Want, in 2000, Vertical Horizon used to be just two guys with acoustic guitars and their band. Don't get me wrong, I still like the current sound of VH, it's just their music now sounds to have been "radio-ized".

I'm not into VH, but my wife is... And you're right. I was pretty impressed by that release.

My fav live album ever? Cheap Trick's Live (budakan? Where was it??? Arrgggg... and mine is in storage) album from the early 80's. My vinyl is in storage, but I've got 2 copies of it.

the eagles...

actually it's a DVD of one of their recent live concerts (late 90's-2000ish)..they have a crazy awesome rendition of hotel california.....

I forgot about that one! I never owned it, but a friend did...

Also was a Joe Walsh live recording of "Life's Been Good To Me So Far"... That one was great. 😀

Yeah, I didn't find out about VH until the Everything You Want release. When I first heard a few of their earlier albums like Running on Ice, and Live Stages, I was like "This is Vertical Horizon?"
