Hey guys, I have a laptop that I basically just use for remote access to my development machine. The dev box is in the office running Vista, about which I currently have no choice, and I often use the laptop to sit on the deck and work on it remotely.

So I really have no need to run Vista on the laptop, and as I really don't like all it's little annoyances, I was thinking about putting Ubuntu on it. Is there a good, stable remote desktop solution to link a linux box to my Vista dev machine?

we use rdesktop 1.6 to connect from our linux based thin clients to our Win 2003 terminal servers...should work the same for connecting to Vista...

I've always used the default RDP that comes with Ubuntu and it works just fine. I've used it to login to VNC as well XP/Vista RDP servers.

anyone have any pointer for using RDP on vista.
I use ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop and have been playing around with controlling my HTPC running vista via RDP but nothing I do works.
A few years ago I used RDP for a while with XP and had no problems. Is vista different?

Is it Vista Home? If so, it has no RDP server... only Business and Ultra do.

The machine I want to connect to is Vista Ultimate. However the project hit a snag because I haven't yet been able to get the DLink Rangebooster N USB adapter that I use for the laptop to work in Ubuntu. Going to give it another try tonight.
