Best Linux Modem, PCI/External?

I'm pgrading my system, that means that I can no longer use my trusty USR ISA modem. I was wondering what you all think is the best choice on the market as far as a linux modem is concerned. I know some PCI modems work with some fiddling and drivers, but I would like something easy to setup. I've had problems with pci modems and linux with friends before. They are just a pain in the ass. Any help would be appreciated.
