Best LCD?

I inquired about LCDs a while ago here, now I'm just curious, if I were to go for it, what one? Never followed 'em really. I knew my stuff about monitors for a while, and I could probably make a fairly intelligent purchase in terms of a CRT monitor, but when it comes to LCD technology, I'm at a loss here. So, I'd appreciate it if possibly you could share your experiences with LCDs and perhaps put in a few suggestions as to which LCD monitor is best (highest quality, longest lasting, easiest on eyes, etc etc).

Thanks! 🙂

bump because it sucks to not have anyone reply.

I have a Viewsonic VG150 and I like it (except for the one stuck pixel).

my friend got that new Hyundai 17 LCD that people have been talking about here in AT, someone needs to help me out with the model number.

says it works like a charm so far *knocks on wood*

cause you can usually get replies quicker here, although they might not be the most helpful

Because I'm usually in OT, and I'm familiar with the people here, as I'm sure they know me a lot better than the GH crowd. It's just like asking a few buddies what they think. I don't see what the big deal is there.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

What's your budget?

If it's around $500 and you have a CostCo near you then you're gonna love me (in a platonic heterosexual manner, of course)!

CostCo B&M is going to have a 17" LCD on sale for $499 sometime in August.

Haha.. Well right now I don't have a budget. But, if you say in august, well I will likely be able to fork out the cash by then, depending on how much money I've already put away for school. What kind of 17" LCD is it?

This is the one that TJN is referring to. I have it and love it. Looks great in UT and Max Payne and great in Windows.

Might be something to check out 🙂

Valid between August 12 - 18, 2002 at CostCo B&M and on CostCo.com:

Envision 17" LCD with TV tuner and remote
Analog, Composite Video, S Video, TV Antenna/Cable, Input Video Signals

Oops I'm an idiot I thought the price was $499 but it's $699 🙁

At least 450:1 contrast, 300 cd/m2, 25ms or lower response time, dvi input, av input (not so important if you're not using this as your only multimedia center), built-in tv-tuner with pip (not so important, same reason).

For 15", Eizo L365, Hitachi 155V, Samsung 151P/152T, Viewsonic VX500, all are over $500 for list price.
When there is hot deal, you could get one close to $400.

If you want to spoil yourself and get the Samsung 171P LCD. I got mine for $830 and the specs blow the competition away. It's not worth getting unless you have a decent graphics card w/digital out. This is possibly the best looking monitor I have ever seen. Only problem I've had so far is that they shipped it with a DVI-D input and my graphics card is DVI-I but Samsung is sending me a new cable to install for free.

nothing wrong with DVI-D, all current dvi input LCD are DVI-D input,
most video cards use DVI-I to carry additional analog signal in order for you to use DVI-I to DB15 converter, you plug the DVI-D to DVI-D cable into DVI-I port for using digital signal.
few oem version video cards use DVI-D.

uum - because its about video?

I've had a Viewsonic VG191 for about 8 mos now - loving every minute of it. Just make sure you get a digital output and response time under 25ms. As usual bigger is better.
