You can find the Acer 17 inchers for around that price almost anywhere. I have an AL1714 that I bought last month for $230 here in Washington. It's great for gaming and movies. No ghosting what so ever.

I just a Samsung 710n for gaming. The response time is fast enough. I don't see ghosting in anything, from HL2 to WoW.

then your best bet is buying something like a 6600 or 6800 and using their upgrade program. If you do the upgrade they will give you full price of the card within the first 3 months

19" LCD monitor

Hey, try this one out... it gets good reviews... ppl say it has no ghosting, and to top it all off if your a console game player, then you can hook up your consoles to it, because it has S-Video and composite inputs.

BFonnes

edit: plus, since it's newegg, it comes with a DVI cable.

you shouldn't pay less than $300 for a monitor or you end up wanting something new in a year anyway... just save up for it... besides the price on this one has dropped at least 3 times since I started drooling over it a few months ago... just bought it for $317 with shipping. it used to be over $400 I think... There is no harm in waiting. If you want a 17" CRT, then just get a bargain/free paper and get one for $40 used.

edit: plus, if you already know what you want, why post? it seems like you shoot down every suggestion you get.

No matter what you do you're going to want to upgrade in the near future anyway. That's the problem with computers. You buy one thing that is the new technology..six months down the road it's somewhat worthless.

Go with the Acer.
