best lcd, bang for buck?

Way confused with LCD monitors. Which are basically the best bang for buck? with gaming in mind.
Seems a lcd would be so much better just for portablity.
If you want a video card you buy r9800p or a n5900nu. Whats the dl on the lcd monitors?

anything from Dell when there is promotion, especially the Dell brand, Planar, NEC, etc.

With gaming in mind? Walking past them to the CRTs is the best way to go.

I bought the dell 17" flat panel 2 months ago. i really don't think it contrasts well at all and the image is dull. its being used on a 64mb intel extreme video card, but i dont' think that should make the difference??

the planar 17'' 16ms monitor. can get it under 350 most of the time.

NEC has best bang for buck. however, the hercules is the best BANG altogether.
