Best Laser Printer for around $300?

My friend is looking for a solid laser printer for about $300. Mainly used to print invoices and text files. It wont get too much graphic use except for maybe simple tables. Any suggestions? I've been looking at the NEC Superscript 870. Is it worth buying an HP? I've heard about a lot of problems with the HP 6Lxi

the price for the printer is not the prime concern, the cost for the Cartiledge should be.

I checked NEC's one is cheaper, and the 870 itself is cheap than the HP 1100.

Go for the NEC- I own one and it is flawless. BTW, Mwave.com had a $50 rebate going not too long ago- you may want to check it out.

NEC 870 wroks in WInME, Win2K, and Linux for me.
