Hi
I am looking for a laptop in 4 - 4.5 lbs range. What do you suggest? Which one is the best? Dell, Sony, Fujitsu, IBM ...

Price Range is 2-2.5K, best performance to money ratio (atleast P735, 1GB RAM, 6k72 HDD).

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

T42</a>
This laptop is just what you are looking for. Just upgrade the ram yourself and you save some money. I've owned 4 laptops and my IBX x31 has the best build quality and is the toughest of them all.

I agree, IBM is the way to go if you got that much. I got a 1.8ghz, 512mb, 5400rpm 80gig, 15in T42 for $2269 (fatty education discount) and upgraded through a frys deal (Kingston PC2700 512mb for $69.99+ tax after MIR) Its a badass system

What about the 12" powerbook? You can get a fully loaded one for under $1800.

I personally found the PB 1.33 slower than a PM 1.4. Whereas you can't get anything faster than an 1.33 in PB, you can get up to a 1.8 ghz in PM -- speed is amazingly fast.

Dothan 735 in IBM Txx series comes in at 5.7 lbs. I so wanted to get an IBM but I don't want anything &amp;gt; 4.5 lbs. so :(

Sony blows, sorry folks but that is the true. Don't buy into that hype, get a IBM. It will last, unless you step on it. *sigh*
