ok so maybe not 😉 I was crusing with my friend and her sister in her 86 rolet(the chev part is rusted off) celebrity(2.5L i think, pretty weak whatever it is) and we're stopped at a light when these two shirtless guys and a girl roll up in a lime green hatchback civic. They start hitting on my friend who just throws it back in their faces, and when the light turns green she stomps on it and leaves them far behind. They're driving a manual, the rolet is an automatic 😉Anyways, we get stuck at the next light and the same morons show up again and challenge her to a race.

Now a little background on the car. It's rusted to hell and the engine is in such bad shape that it needs to take 92 octane to stop from knocking. the car is going to be taken apart soon as there's a crack in the gas tank, the frame is about to give out etc. it's a real piece of crap.

So my friend accepts, and when the light turns green she mashes the gas and they launch in first. In about 3 seconds we already have a car length on them, and by the time she hit 80km/h they were two car lengths behind. We took the onramp to the freeway and saw them do the ricer flyby.


sure, this was no highspeed race, but i couldn't believe my eyes. A celebrity with 3 people in it beat a civic with 3 people in it! a celebrity! and we did it twice 😀 needless to say i was proud of her 😎

haha, i had a Celebrity Eurosport with the 2.8L V6 and the only car I ever remember beating was a Tempo.. oh i also beat a Ford Aerostar once. it wasn't really a speed champion that's for sure.

Unless it's a Civic SI they aren't exactly known for a lot of torque (without serious engine modification). When I was shopping for a new car last year I test drove the Honda Civic. I was very dissapointed in the engine. Not a lot of torque even in the manual 5 speed.

What? Civic? Torque? What? They were probably driving a Civic Hatchback CX with all of its 70-106 hp and around 91-103ft/lbs of torque.

They didn't make the SI in 2001 so I test drove the Civic EX coupe. I suppose if they still had made the SI coupe then, I may have though differently, but the EX was just a dog torquewise.
