Best Joystick?

Anyone have any suggestions for a good joystick? Been awhile since I've had a need for one and I just realized while trying to install my force feedback joystick that microsoft has no XP drivers for it and dosen't plan to make any. nice eh?

Does anyone else make anykind of force feedback joystick besides microsoft?

suggestions would be appreciated!

thanks

Try Saitek's X-45 HOTAS, arguably the best hands on throttle and stick ever. No force feedback (yet), but it boasts an easy-to-customize user interface with hat switches galore, and a cool looking missle launch switch...

I've used the X-36 combo and was very pleased with it, I hope to get the x-45 myself soon...

well.. i guess this is kind of unrelated, but a good gaming joystick in general is the x-arcade. feels pretty damn close to real arcade machines although there might be enough shoulder space for 2 players if your big.

im not sure what game your playing, but i would definnately spend the money on the x-arcade as it is a good joystick for all games.

if your playing a flight sim or something then i guess this does not apply to you 🙂

I'd definately recommend the x-45 then... you can pick the combo up on ebay for under $80 last time I checked. If force feedback is really your cup of tea, I think saitek also makes several sticks under the "Cyborg" line, but don't offer the goodies of the X-45...

if it is a civilian flight sim i think a yoke and a set of pedals would be better(CH is a good brand).now if you really want a stick
the Saitek Cyborg Evo is also nice.

You can get the old Microsoft Force Feedback joysticks to work under XP. It's been while since I've done it. Try doing a google search for it.

If you just need something simple for games like BF1942 check computer geeks for the Logitech Wingman Digital Extreme 3D. They have them for about $15 every once in a while. I have bought 5 of them from there for my home LAN. Snagged another just last week. YMMV.

If you want to spend some bucks the Saitek is the way to go.

CH Pro Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals, all USB. Fairly pricey (but you can shop around), but about the best rig going, IMO. (I haven't had any experience with Thrustmaster Cougar, but from what I've read, it is a good system IF you spend about the initial cost again in aftermarket mods.)

I had an X-36 setup for quite awhile, and they are good bang for the buck-kind of hokey looking, IMO.

If you are flying sims, though, even if you go with the Saitek gear, I would highly recommend you also add a set of rudder pedals. You won't believe the difference in control as compared to either a twist stick or a rocker, like on the X-36/45/52 (?).

Oh, and if you don't have it yet-get Il-2:Forgotten Battles!! THE best WW2 combatsim ever made-by a long shot! Go to this site, and wander around a bit, ask questions.
