From the Gateway accessory store aka NECX for $120.95 and free shipping on orders over $99.

It is actually $9 cheaper than the Silver. I have one of the Silver USB and Silver PCMCIA and they are worth every penny.🙂

Good News: Price is now down to $117.95
Bad News: Not in Stock, shipping is free only if order is over $199

They are now back in stock at GAS at $117.95 and are $12 less than ORiNOCO Silver USB Adapter.
A great deal!! 🙂

Hey! That's a great price. I was just looking at these earlier today on pricegrabber.com and the best they had there was around $130.

Then again, maybe I should finish the machine that I want to hook this up to. Dang! 😛

orangel,

Yes, but this is not the PCMCIA Gold Card, it's the USB Gold. The PCMCIA is a great card if you've got a PC Card slot in your machine. Most everything has USB these days, so this one you could move around. Find me one of these for $73 and you'll be my friend forever!

does the pcmcia card work better than the usb version or vice versa? pcmcia also requires a pci adapter if you have a desktop machine. I wanna go wireless but can't decide between orinoco gold usb or gold pcmcia w/ pci adapter.

You might want to check ebay. There are a couple there that look like they will go cheap in the next few hours. (no, I am not the one selling).

Nack

I have both PCMCIA and PCI adapter and USB. I cannot say if one works better. The PCMCIA can take an external high gain antenna and the USB cannot. I have the USB going to my neighbors window (80ft away) and it works great. The PCMCIA goes to my other neighbor (70ft) and has an external antenna attached. It is not line of sight, so I wanted to make sure it worked.

The price is about the same, and the option to hook up the external antenna is nice as well.

The USB client is really just the PCMCIA Gold card unlabeled in a USB casing. If you want to void your warranty, you can take it apart and stick it in your lappy 🙂
