Title says it all. My gf is complaining about using a wireless kb/mouse for the HTPC so it's time for a remote. My main concern is that it's user friendly for her, but I'd like all the functionality I can get. The HTPC is running XP Pro and Xlobby. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Cheapest Logitech Harmony remote you can find is your best bet. Likely the 550.

I bet you can buy one of the Creative ones for cheap from someone used. I got a remote with my Audigy sound card and I didn't use it for months. Now I do and it is useful.

The problem with media Remotes is that you need to run a media center and you have very limited controls.

I use the Logitech diNovo Edge hands down the best KB for media PC's. It includes a mouse pad like what you have on notebooks but better. I saw it recently for $79 AR

For truly dedicated HTPCs, I've been growing very fond of the Logitech DiNovo Mini. It's small so it gets out of your way, while still maintaining a full use touchpad + menu navigator, as well as a thumbpad for text entry. Same bluetooth connectivity is great for me since I have bluetooth built in. I love my DiNovo Edge, but sometimes I just don't have anywhere to put it beside me when I'm watching a movie. The Edge works terrifically for that.
