best HSF for less than 40 dollars?

MrDudeMan

Lifer
what is the BEST HSF for 40 dollars or less (including shipping)? it has to be kind of quiet...doesnt need to be like 20db, but no more than 33 or 34 if possible...because that isnt very loud but its pushing it. it has to be able to fit on a K7S5A motherboard, and needs to be able to cool the chip pretty well, or at least enough to keep it from melting while playing some games...thanks

<< Alpha 8045! >>

alpha hands down, able to cool it with a quiet fan, rather than the SK6, you need to get a LOUD fan to cool it efficiently!!!

I own both by the way

I prefer Alpha

My SVC 80mm hs/f.

Althought it doesn't have a copper inlay or a copper heatsink, it keeps my T-Bird nice and cool, and it's really quiet. 😀

where can you get a pal8045 for 40 or less shipped with a fan? and what fan is best for it that is pretty quiet? what about the MCV 80mm hs/f? where do you get that?

Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu (not 6Cu+), part # A1139 comes with 4550rpm fan.
Cools very well, fits K7S5A no problem, reliable, not expensive, in your db range.

The Vantec 6027 is an excellent middle ground between performance, price, size, and noise. It has a 5K RPM fan on it. It is all copper, but small. You can get it for about $20 without shipping.

Alpha 8045 and choose a fan to meet your needs. I don't overclock so I use a Panaflo. A huge difference in sound level from what I was used to hearing.

yep, an alpha 8045 and a panaflo...that is your best bet. near silence (or total silence if you run the fan at a lower voltage), and still great temps

Get the 8045 here: Alpha for $29.99
You can get a fan from them for another $2 (the YS tech cools VERY well, but a bit too noisey for me ( I wanted an ultra quiet setup). I got 10 Panaflo L1A's which are virtually silent for 19.90 (also have them for $2.49 ea. + shipping from here: scroll down to bottom

You now have the best (or quietest) cooling for under $40 😀

I had the impression the PAL 8045 doesn't fit the ECS K7S5A... if I were you I'd research that carefully before buying. I just got a K7S6A and I've been considering the SK6.

look at mboys post...click on "scroll to the bottom" link, then go to the compatibility page and it works on the K7S5A

That;s funny, why does your link show it IS compatible? Look again my friend. Click ECS and look under COMPATIBLE, k7s5a is listed there!
