best heatsink for an athlon 3000?

OK, you made me laugh and my day is better now because of your ability to accept humor.

Sooooooo, I feel now compelled to cooperate.

I'm using the PAL 8045 on my computers. It's certainly not new anymore, but I trust it completely and enjoy the quiet(er) operation of an 80mm fan.
If your MoBo lets it fit on there, I'd recommend it.

According to Alpha It would fit your MoBo 🙂

Good heatsink, I have one myself 🙂

I do hear that the Thermalright's SLK-800 and SLK-900's are the BEST for SocketA processors. They are quite expensive though.

2nd the SLK800 or 900. I prefer the 800a as it doesn't require the 4 holes to attach.
The 800u is more flexible because it can be used for AMD or P4's

Very easy to attach different sized fans to, both in width and height.

Vantec Aeroflow C7040 Very quiet, cool and highly rated. I can get it locally for $25, but newegg wants $33 plus $6 shipping (a ripoff)

If you want best, and if it fits on your board, as long as price doesn't matter, get the SLK-800 or SLK-900.
I plan on getting an SLK-900 and putting a 92mm fan on top of it. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to stay with an AMD though.

Thermalright SLK-900. End of discussion.

(Or, if you don't want to spend $50 on a heatsink, the SK-7 works great)
