What's the best heatsink/fan combo for this board and a 3700+ sandie? I dont mind the noise of a higher cfm fan, just not something like a vantec tornado

I'd use a Thermalright XP-90 or the XP-120, with a good Panaflo M1 fan. Please use the search function, there's probably one poster per day asking that same question .

that board can hold an xp-120. xp-120 is cools better then the xp-90, and although is about 1/2c less effcient then the xp-90c its alot quieter. XP-120 is the best hands down heatsink for it

The Zalman 7000 and 7700 HSFs work on the board too if you wan an alternative to the thermalright xp series.

I chose the 7700-AlCu because it weighs less than the xp-90c and it cools more than the cpu :)

i'm very pleased with the xp-120. being able to put a 120mm fan on there is a great feature. fyi: it used to be a lot cheaper at frozencpu.com than it was at newegg.

Yep, I suggested the M1A (120mm) because the OP told us that he didn't really care about the noise, but still, the M1A is only rated @ 35 dBA. If you want to go even quieter, you could use the L1A as Obsidian suggested, which is @ 30 dBA, and moves like 20 cfm less than the M1A. Whichever you choose, you're still far from the noise of a Vantec Tornado (around 50 dBA I think), which is a 92 mm fan anyway.

I really like my new Scythe Ninja. I had the XP120 and it was good too. But the Ninja cools better, even with a less powerful fan. I'm using a 1500rpm fan on it with my 3700 SD at 2800MHz, 1.53V. Under load at the warmest part of the day my DFI Ultra-D says my cpu is 38C. Of course, motherbaord temps aren't comparable or even accurate.

Seems pretty good. I've heard nothing but good things about this Scythe Ninja, even though I never had one myself. The OP should consider that HS as well.

I got it at SVC. NewEgg has it. They list it by model number though (scnj-1000).
