I want to get the best headphone w mic combo for gaming, spending no more than say $250-$300. I know there are alot of good headphones out there but I dont see any that come with a mic. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Check out Microsoft Sidewinder Gamevoice. www.gamevoice.com.
The headphones are ok, but the mic is very good. The headset+mic is from Plantronics. I play a lot of counter-strike, in which I communicate with my team members via Battlecom. For that purpose the Gamevoice headset+mic combo is excellent. My whole clan bought it :)

Check it out at least....You can get it at buy.com for about 42$.

With best regards,

I concur. I have an MS Gamevoice and it's great. The headphones are better than I thought they'd be (they look pretty small), and the mic works extremely well. Ivar, why do you use Battlecom by the way?

Anyway, since you have so much cash to spend on it what you could do is get the gamevoice, and then get the top model of headset from plantronics (as he said, they supplied the GV headset, but they have a much beefier model the HS1's that you could get instead) and hook that to the puck instead.

Here is where I got my Gamevoice (for $25) he's a good guy.
and here is buy.com selling the HS1's for $30 (pay no mind to the picture they have, it's very wrong...those are the right ones).

Another vote for the Plantronic HS1's. The mic broadcasts very clearly and the sound(imho) is very good as well for the price. I use it with flight sims, using both roger wilco and battlecom. Plantronics has a new version out that's digital, but I haven't heard of anyone using them yet.

Zeeliv...The reason I use battlecom instead of the Gamevoice communication software (which essentially is the same since Microsoft bought Shadowfactor, the makers of Battlecom, or at least bought the technology) is because, well, we're used to Battlecom :) We haven´t got around testing out Gamevoice communication software yet :) One day we will!

W/best regards,
Ivar
