not really, but IMO microdisplays are a better choice. For instance the tv I posted is 13 inches deep and weighs only 60 pounds. The viewing angle is also very good.

Wern't you the one who returned a DLP set when you found out you would need to change the bulb every few years (depending on usage)?

Sony 34inch XBR960 with super fine pitch.

Yeah, it's one of those old dinosaurs- a CRT tube *eeek* and they weigh a ton but their picture quality is unrivalled, esp. after ISF calibration.

Sony is getting out of the CRT tube business so get one while you can.

Good luck with their service if you do get one.

It prolly only comes with an included one-year manufacturers, but you could always purchase an extended.
Still, if it ONLY lasted ten years, it would still be a bargain if you watched HDTV exclusively. By then, we'll be watching 3840X2160 programming anyways :D.

I use to have a Hitachi 51SWX20B. I believe this is probably the bigger brother replacement. Has a built in HD tuner, 1080P (not 1080i or 720p), and good reviews... and you can pick it up at your local Circuit City.
Link.

As for the Onecall link - yes they're a great dealer and you can't go wrong with a Toshiba.

Damn I wish I didn't have to sell my Hitachi. :(

I heard that rear projection is considered old technology. What should I be looking for? I also want picture in picture - 2 tuners ? Do any models have this?

yes it is considered old technology. However there are dlp and lcd projection tvs that are new technology. For $2000 you can get a lot more tv for your money with a dlp. However there are also lcd tvs and plasmas, but they are more expensive. And the the tv i linked to had PIP

Thanks Suse for your response. Is PiP the same thing as having dual tuners? I read the bestbuy description and it mentioned something about using the tuner from the VCR... thanks again for your help

I got an InFocus 4805 projector and I'm *absolutely* in love with it.

For ~$800 it's the best deal known to man.

If you are looking for quality, forget Sony. They are low quality and their customer support is a joke.
