best harddrive to oc? ibm wut? quantem?

IBM deskstars, and quantums are the best to overclock. I've never had a problem with either of the drives, both 30 gigs. but maxtors are the worst for overclocking.

They (as in 99.9% of the competent public) refer to these as hard drive, but then again I can't decipher your questions.

I think he's refering to his overclocked system with a Maxtor drive in it in response to the thread above which said they don't overclock well. But Mike what's your PCI divider set at 1/4? If so your HD isn't OC'd. I haven't had enough different drives in OC'd systems to know which one would be better or worse but so far I've had no complaints from the Deskstar 36gxp (I think this was the model number.. the one before the 75gxp) and Deskstar 75gxp in my current rig.

yea my pci is set to 1/4 right now
before some dumb ass didnt tell me about the pci divider so
my quandtem was at 45 pci bus
hahaha and my ibm deskstars got killed
=x

is maxtor that BAD?

for ocing?

i've been reading your posts. you mike, are the dumb ass for not doing any research and not knowing about the 1/4 PCI divider. the person who told you about it was not the dumb ass, you are. i can't believe you are a senior member - most incompetent one i've seen. i am glad your HDs died.

mikelou26: for the 3rd time, Maxtors are not very happy with overclocking, while IBM and Quantum drives do much better.

Maxtors are only safe up to a PCI speed of about 37.5, while IBM and Quantum drives seem to be OK up to 41.5MHz PCI.
