Best Hard drive setup?

Hey all I'm wondering which of these 2 options is the best as far as price/performance:

Use 2 Seagate Barracude 7200.8 250gb hard drives and raid 0 them to boot from (and instlal my programs etc) and use a 160gb maxtor IDE drive i have for storage (will cost me about $232~ to get the 2 drives shipped)

Use one 74gb WD raptor to boot from and buy a 250gb 7200.8 and use that for storage (or use my 160gb as well; will cost me $290~ for the 2 drives)

Will the raid0 setupi perform better? And is it really worth the extra $60~ to have a raptor? Should I even use my existing 160gb Maxtor IDE drive?

Thanks in advance 😀

I got yelled at by someone on Anandtech for suggesting the WD Raptor or RAID 0.

Go with a 250GB Maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA, or a Seagate Barracuda or a WD Caviar (they have great prices sometimes).

500gb seems like a waste for just program files. If you want to raid, get 2 smaller drives.

I have 2 WD 250GB drives set up for a 500GB RAID0 Array, but I don't use it for OS files or applications, just for TV recordings from my capture card and movies and stuff (all legal of course), they take up lots of space as raw data (like crazy amounts)
