bought myself a pvr satellite receiver

i'm looking for a hard drive which has to be very quiet, reliable and not heat up

what would you guys recommend?

thanks

SATA II? Depends what size your looking for.... Besure you remember when looking at specs at a BEL is .1 decibels, so in direct comparisons, just move the decimal over for it.... just looking at lower capacity drives.... Western Digital Caviars seem to be the coolest, and quietest. Anything with NCQ is most likely going to be noisey, and as this is not for a computer, latency and access times is not muhc of an issue... i'd take a look at WD, or maybe even Samsung.... Hitachi and Seagates I believe tend to be both noisy and hot....

I bought a 500gig WD for an external USB case. I had similar needs to a PVR box, storage size, heat, noise, warranty considerations. I doubt it's SATA-II but it's a nice drive. SE16 model. Cross check anything you find with a site like sotragereview.com.

It is SATA-II indeed.

And good recommendation, it's cool, quiet, fast and reliable.
