best guitar processor?

I'm thinking about ebaying my 5 analog pedals and two peavy rack mounts to get money for a all-in-one digital floor processor. I have: Metal zone MT2 Distortion., DS1 dist, Overdrive OS2 dist, Stereo Chorus CE3, Stereo Flanger FX75-B, Deltafex peavy rack and T.G. Raxx rack (tube).... sounds great..
All worth about $450..

I need suggestions for a great floor pedal that can take the place of all my crap. I looked at musicians friend and they have a few... I think I would like to stay away from digitech and maybe go with dod or something else.. I dont know though. I just want something that I can make my own distortions and delay channels with and all that good stuff. Wah too.. gotta have wah..and wammy..

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a Boss GT-3 (discontinued). This thing has every single operation imaginable. For me, it's just too daunting. And I never cared for the sound. So I bought a Line 6 Flextone 3 2x12 amp. It has just enough features and just enough control to get all of the sounds I'd need, without being overbearing. And it sounds great. And its very simple. I'm much happier with this kind of all-in-one unit... just plug in my guitar and play.

Line 6 also has the Pod XT, which is basically the same effects processor that is in my amp, without the amp. One of the great things about Line 6 is the support from the company and the user community. You can download patches and software and updates all free of charge.

I'll sell you my Boss for $200.

i have a boss gt-6 and comparing it to my old gt-3 and a friend's korg, i heartily reccomend it. only prob is its a bit expensive. but guitarcenters often have discoutns on it...i got mine for $300

if you do demo it at a store, take the time to fiddle a bit. the presets sound nice enough, but the thing really comes alive with some fine tuning. the custom amp modeling is very very nice, as are the wah effects.

I had a line 6 pod a while back and for the life of me i could never get a good sound, so i finally sold it and picked up a Fuzz Face pedal. I absolutley love it and i can get tons of tones from it.

the gt-3 was great for its time. but seriously consider a gt-5 or gt-6. the distortion modeling is much more complete and "analog" sounding. www.harmony-central.com has a lot of use reviews for almost any guitar product...you should check them out. one of the biggest complaints for the gt-3 is that the distortion sounds are too "tinny"

Yes.. I was just thinking about getting a gt6 over the gt3..

But I listened to some samples from musicians friend and i dont know about the distortion. It sounds a little crappy er something.. tinny is a good word.

I dont know..Maybe I should keep my stuff. My guitar sounds absolutely amazing with my ds1 and my peavy tube modeler...

yeah...multi-effects have a ways to go before replacing stand alone pedals. do you have a good pedalboard to organize your stuff neatly??

I have a Line 6 Spider, original. 2x10. I absolutely love it. Tones I dreamed of. Anyways, I really wanted to comment about the company. About 4 months after the warranty was out, my amp went up in smoke. I called Line 6 and told them and then asked how much. They were so upset that the amp fried, they refused to charge me anything for the repair, and had me take it to the closest authorized repair shop, which was an hour a way. They said that if I could take it there, they would call and tell them to put it at the front of the list. The guy had it fixed within a day of receiving the parts he needed, and it has worked flawlessly since. It blew my mind that they were so concerned about the amp and my opinion of the company. I also want to point you to a new gem called the Carvin Tone Navigator. Carvin is usually a best buy in whatever review you may find them in, mostly because they sell factory direct and the stuff is remarkably cheap. I paid $1200 for a 5 string bass, and when I took it to Guitar Center and compared it the $4,000 pedulla's and warwick's, the carvin just seemed so much better. I reffer to my black 5 string as the "grand piano" of the bunch.

Carvin doesn't seem to have anything on the tone navigator on the site, but please look into it. please. request a catalog. you'll enjoy looking through it. btw, alot of big players are using carvin exclusively now, like Steve Vai, Slipknot, bass player from eagles, Craig Chaciquo, etc.

If he does, hopefully the Carvin Vai model will be much cheaper than the 2 grand for the Jem. I absolutely love how the Jem plays, but no one else makes a neck like it that I've found. Given Carvin's reputation for quality products, I'd imagine their model would be at least as good as the Jem, and cheaper.

Plus Carvin builds basically custom guitars. Maybe I could get them to put a "Jem" neck onto a cheaper body...

haha sorry dude. OP, the gt-3 is an amazing piece of equipment, but like anything else, a few kinks have been worked out in later revisions. you may not be able to tell the difference.

Ten years ago when the gem was made, there wasn't much like it. I have an RG270. I've always been a fan of Ibanez, I have an SG590 bass as well.

Times have changed, and i can tell you that the Carvin guitar making process is like cutting fine diamonds. They are so frickin precise. Its almost unbelievable how low you can get the action without string buzz. I think they said if setup correctly and proper adjustments are made(catalog) the action can be at about 1/32 of an inch between fretboard(not fret) and string, which puts the strings below the fret. Since there are frets, they usually sit about 3/32 of an inch above the fret board. I used to have a fretless carvin bass, which was good to about 1.5/32 of an inch off the fret board. all those bloats who had fender jazz basses in jazz bands felt pretty stupid after playing my bass. The carvin sounded better, and it took about 1/10 the physical effort to play it

Carvin sells direct, and custom. I'd bet they would be more than willing to put the jem neck on the guitar, but you would be better off with one of their neck through guitars. Neck through is especially good because the pickups are on the neck part (neck goes all down the guitar to the bridge, with sides attached, rather than the body as one piece with neck attached)

btw, screw a floor pedal, get a massive rack mount and a floor controller. You can always sell the rack mount but keep the controller. This way, you can find the controller of your dreams, and if you don't like the tones, get a new rack. I suggest the Carvin Tone Navigator.
