what exaclty will be you be doing?

personaly I would stay clear of maya, as a max user who is used to some organization in the interface I absolutely despise the maya gui, its like they had a new gui team with each version and they just built ontop of the old gui, just simply horrid.

XSI and Lightwave are in my opinion rather similar when it comes to the interface.

If I were starting out right now and had to buy one package I would definetly go with lightwave since its extremely powerful, expecialy in the modeling part, and most importantly its not that expensive compared to the other packages.

What do you do for work?

I do compose on several blockbuster movies such as Blade 2 (that was my last movie). But I use Shake 2 alot.

Blade 2, that's impressive. I really liked Blade 2. Most of the schools I've looked at use Maya and 3ds Max... haven't found any student prices, but I haven't looked that hard. Lightwave goes for $ 400 for the educational software. This is getting somewhere, thanks for the help guys, keep it coming.

Sorry about that, I didn't mean $ 4000 hahaha, it's $ 400.

Could any of you guys recommend some 3D Animation schools or universities that offer 3D Animation, preferably with Architecture, I want to major in both and get Bachelors for the two.

Thanks once again,

Ian
