What do you use to mount your gps/cell phone in the car to make it hands free. I don't like the devices with the sticky residue like the GripGo. Prefer something that locks down on the dash or the air vents. Really want something that also lets you choose horizontal or vertical position.

The units that mount in your cd player are not for me, they block the radio screen/controls.

I get all my phone mounts from ProClip

Never disappointed.

You can get the vehicle specific mount from them and use a RAM x-grip. It'll accept pretty much any phone so you aren't replacing it all the time. Panavise also makes the metal brackets you need to mount various kits like ram or proclip, plus they're a bit cheaper.

My car's cup holder works fine. ^_^

The cup holder doesn't hold the gps eye level, that's a huge risk of getting into a crash having to look down all the time at your gps or cell.
I don't look at the GPS at all. I just listen to it and do what it says.

i have one of these off ebay for my Note 2.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360-Swivel-...-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-2-II-N7100-/130795086397

Cost about $5, works great, looks 1000x better than those awful looking generic grip-on-edges type cradles. I have the same mount for my wife's iPhone 5 so all we have to do is switch the cradle if we use each other's cars with our phones.

Problem with those units, is the gps/device will get cold/hot air blown on it unless you shut that vent. This works well, able to mount a gps below the windshield and remove it easily when exiting the vehicle.

I use a Mountek nGroove CD Slot mount. Cheap and perfect for my needs. Nothing shows above the dashboard. On the rare occasion I actually want to insert a CD (couple times a year?) it only takes a few seconds to remove.

Now that's a clever idea. Just high enough to easily see without having to deal with windshield or dashboard suction. Just got back from a long road trip and while my phone did a great guidance job with GPS (using Sygic), the damn phone was sliding all over the place.
