I use refills. It's a bit of a hassle, but it looks just as great as my original ink. It costs a heck of a lot less than any generic ink carts. I print now without worrying about the high price of ink. They cost $100 for a liter of each color, which will basically last you FOREVER!

tried it. leaked like a sieve. man, i must just be the king of leaks!

You have to make sure the fill hole is air tight plugged. Otherwise it will leak right through. While your filling it you have to have the exit hole plugged. The ORANGE caps that originally come on a new canon cart work well with a rubber band. Otherwise you have to use tape.

I recommend the shiny silver duct tape you can get at home depot. This is not the grey stuff. You'll find a roll in the a/c section of HD.

hmm, i thought i had the top hole well plugged, however, i didn't do anything special to plug the bottom hole while filling the cart. maybe this is the source of my problems.

anyway, i'm becoming convinced the best model for me is simply to sell my old printer and buy a new one when i run out of ink. resell values are reasonable on ebay, new printers are cheap, and the technology seems to be changing so fast right now that the newer printers have significant changes above the old ones.

fyi, i seem to empty my carts in about 6 months.

Yep if you don't seal the bottom hole the ink will come right out IF the fill hole is open. It's a mess.

Just seal the bottom hole with the "orange thing" (and a rubber band) that comes with a new cart. I'ts important to save those.
