Hi guys,

sorry for the lame question, but which notebook is currently the most powerful one on the market? Therefore being best suited for gaming( correct me if i'm wrong). And i'm not talking C&C- gaming related to Halflife2, DoomIII, etc.
Also, do you know when the voodoo envy m855 will be availible with 128 mb gpu memory?
Price doesn't matter.

Thanks,

"they would have a 256meg mobility 9700 in the near future?"

Yes, that is true, but all Clevo/Sager resellers will have the ability to offer that. The notebook will be released as the Sager NP8790, it will also feature the Prescott (initially up to 3.6 GHz) and be available around January. The display is also nice, a 17? WXGA at 1440x900 resolution.

When I asked Voodoo if they had plans to offer a 128MB 9600 Pro, they told me not until until next year. As it stands, the M855 is an excellent machine. Hopefully, I should be able to buy one in the next couple of days. :)

The voodoo m855 is the current mass production champ.

As far as what something will have in the future... that wasn't pertinent to the question as I read it. I'm pretty sure the OP said "currently".

Thanks so far :)
What about the sager 88xx notebooks?
The hardware on them seems to be very similar to the m855.

Are you sure about that?
At pctorque(thanks Ramses) they seem to offer them.
Anyway, which one would you guys recommend: the Sager 8890 or the Voodoo m855?
Again, thanks!

Here the link from Sager's site showing OOS.

Sager 8890 OOS

The Sager is a huge machine at 2.25" thick and 12lbs. The Voodo is still big but smaller than the Sager @ 8lbs and 1.7" thick.

I have a Sager 5680 Supra with 2.8Ghz HT, 512mb PC4000, 9600 pro mobility, UXGA display, set me back $1800 shipped, it will run anything you throw at it well.

I want the Voodoo myself. If every thing goes according to plan, I should be able to order one shortly.

If you are in Canada, go with a Eurocom D500p 'Monte Carlo'. It is a clevo with a radeon 9600pro mobility...I have one and damn it is the best thing I have ever used, desktop or not. Honesty one of the best things about it is the UXGA display, it makes the HUGEST difference in the clarity of the pictures from all angles. It came as a bonus surprise to me as I did not know what the difference between a SXGA and UXGA really was.

I also think it's cool because my car is also a Monte Carlo, and no I didn't buy the notebook solely because of the name, it was of course for the Radeon 9600 :D

Firus,
do you know if they can deliver the Monte Carlo to Europe? Cause they seem to ship only to US or Canada....

Also, who could tell me what's better- an amd 64 3200 mhz with a radeon 9600 with 64 meg
or
a pentium 4 3200 fsb 800 with hyperthreading and a radeon 9600 with 128 meg?
I know all this sounds extremly lame, but voodoo's offering different notebooks with similar hardware and I'm trying to choose the best...

i'm grateful for any reply!

The screen resolution is the key here (graphics card memory size). Playing at 1024x768 they should be pretty much equal, being the CPU the difference (debatable to some, but the Athlon 64 would be on top). Unless you are going to play at 1280 x 1024 or higher with everything maxed out the graphics card should be equally matched, with the cPU making the difference. Can anyone confirm this fact?

I suggest the Athlon 64, as I am getting one myself... ;)
