Best gaming / movie headphones

Just wondering what the best headphones for $50-$150 are.

I play alot of games and i would also like to watch movies with them so the cord has to be like 8 feet+. I would like them to sound great, maybe with 2-5 speakers in each ear. I have the X-FI XtremeGamer sound card and i would like to use the optical out but i guess if there isnt a HUGE difference i could use the standard headphone plug.

any suggestions?

is optical out really that noticable?

please post links, not model numbers... i like pics and specs 😀 thanks alot guys.

Here's what I use. I paid about $230.00 for them a couple years back and they are awesome. You can find these easily under $150 now. Jvc's website does not list these anymore, only the dx1's. I had those too, and there were great also.

JVC's website has them archived HERE

JVC HA-DX3

Here's an old forum discussing the DX3's..... Here

Hmm, I'm interested in responses as well. I've been using a pair of Sony MDR-V6s for quite a few years now. I've been debating whether to upgrade...

how about the PC350 Sennheiser's

those are said to be in stores any day now. if they arent already. they have a mic 🙂

As already stated, pick up a set of HD555's and a separate mic. They will be much better than any headset you can get in the similar price range.

I would actually say to look into the Equation Audio RP-21s. I think you can get them for as low as $80 shipped on Amazon, but they're very good. Audio-Technica ATH-A500 (or A700 if you can get them in your price range) are also good. I'm sure there's a couple that I'm forgetting but I can't think of which ones they are.

All the suggested are headphones, which you'll need a separate mic for. I also vote for the HD555's, amazing pair of headphones for positional audio and movies.

so what microphone do u recommend? i hate it when my friend gets on vent with background noise... the headsets are so nice.

The thing with the mics is that you just need to make sure to position it correctly. I believe Newegg sells some clip-on mics that will work well (they clip right onto the headphone or maybe the headphone cable, so they're close like on a headset).

Well i decided to give these a try, if i dont like them ill just give them to my brother and get the hd555's.

This is true 5.1 with 4 speakers in each ear and has a built in rumble effect. Ive read nothing but great reviews so im excited.
they are also optical and come with a separate audio processing box and a 14 foot cord.

perfect for what i need it for, i hope these are as good as i think they are.
